Lola’s first taste of real Southern biscuits came years ago, during a visit to a genteel Atlanta family. When she raved about the taste and texture, her hostess graciously shared her family recipe —
which Lola then worked hard to master, diving deep into biscuit lore so she could offer a biscuit that can hold its own among the finest of the South.
Southern biscuits come in many different interpretations. Our recipe is all-butter, no lard. The biscuits bake up light with a slightly crispy outside. They melt in your mouth. They’re great alone, terrific with a meal. Or put ham or sausage in the middle, and they’re a meal in themselves.
