Planning Tips

Below are a few guidelines as you prepare your special order. For big events, we also have a FAQ page. Once you're ready to order, please call or visit the bakery.

Plan ahead: Generally we need at least one week's notice for custom orders — more for large or complex orders. Especially during holidays, our baking calendar fills up quickly.

Explore the site: This Web site contains lots of photos to inspire you. Browse it for a sense of what we do (and what we don't do).

Be very specific: Some people select a photo on our site and say "Exactly like that, but in robin's egg blue." But you can also show us a magazine page, or a drawing, or describe your idea in words. The more detail, the better. Flavors, colors, words, sizes — tell us everything.

Work with us: Some ideas are harder to execute than others. Based on our experience, we may suggest changes to your plan. We want you to be happy with the result.

Understand our limits: We require a minimum order size for each custom item — a dozen in most cases. Some items are seasonal; some ingredients may not be in stock.

Consider regular items, too: Our everyday offerings are plenty special, and enable a great mix of flavors. Supplement a custom cake with a variety of cupcakes, or some specially shaped cookies with a mix of other cookies and bars.

Birthdays

In our book nothing beats a nice birthday cake, but we have some great options for cupcake- and cookie lovers, too. And don't forget sugar-cookie favors: They're a great way to send everyone home happy.
