It’s National Farmers’ Market Week
Are you a regular at the Leesburg Farmers’ Market? If not, this is the perfect weekend to check it out.
For one thing, local produce is peaking: Peaches, nectarines, corn, heirloom tomatoes (yum), zucchini, blackberries, and the start of apple season.
For another, it’s National Farmers’ Market Week, by decree of the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture — a great time to celebrate our local farmers and growers.
And don’t forget the other locally made staples you’ll find each Saturday at the market: Yogurt, cheese, meat, bread, and eggs, as well as (of course!) our own cookies, scones, muffins and more.
Even the weather should cooperate. So come! The market opens at 8 a.m. in the Virginia Village Shopping Center on Catoctin Circle, and runs through noon. It’s a wonderful way to start a weekend.
Here’s what we’ll have at our stand this week:
- Blueberry Muffins
- Whole Wheat Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
- Cranberry Buttermilk Scones
- Almond Scones
- Cheddar Chive Scones
- Southern Biscuits
- Zucchini Bread
- Peach Rounds (gluten-free!)
And, as always, our award-winning lineup of cookies and bars.
Have a great weekend,
- Lola
