Valentine’s Day at Lola’s

You can’t hurry love? Actually, when it comes to V-Day sweets, it might be better to ignore what Mama said: If you keep on waiting, anticipating — well, you’ll get caught in the Valentine’s rush at Lola’s.

This year February 14 falls on a Tuesday. We expect the bakery will be extra-busy starting on Saturday, February 11, with high demand for Valentine-themed goodies including:

Heart-shaped sugar cookies
Double chocolate cupcakes with special Valentine’s designs
Cherry chocolate cupcakes (pink icing)
Chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing (pink sprinkles)
Red velvet cupcakes

We’ll be baking like crazy, trying to keep up, but there may be occasional shortages. To avoid disappointment, please order ahead. You’ll get exactly what you want — and you’ll get out of the bakery faster on Valentine’s Day, leaving more time for romance (or last-minute shopping).

Never ordered ahead before? It’s simple: Just call the bakery at 703-669-6970 and let us know what you’ll need and when you’ll pick it up. You can pay over the phone, too, which makes pick-up even faster.

One of our most popular cupcake flavors is back through Valentine’s Day: Cookies & Cream! These are our moist chocolate cupcakes topped with Oreo icing, then sprinkled with Oreo bits.

Other seasonal flavors at the bakery right now: Cherry Chocolate, Mocha, and Chocolate with Vanilla Buttercream.

How Do You Fit Cupcakes Into a Stocking?

That’s easy: Buy a Lola gift card.

Heck, it’s Christmas — we’ll make it even easier. Starting tomorrow (December 23rd), we’re selling a limited number of gift cards for 20% off!

Pre-activated gift cards will be available in three amounts while they last:

A $15 card for just $12;
A $25 card for just $20; or
A $50 card for just $40.

These cards are good for anything in the bakery. They make great last-minute stocking stuffers or gift-toppers — or how about treating yourself to a Lola discount? (You’ve earned it!)

Since the cards don’t expire, you can also stock up for next year. Buy as many as you want, until we run out.

The 20% discount deal is good on Friday and Saturday only, December 23rd and 24th. (Be sure to check our last-minute shopping hours.)

We’re Open Until Noon on Christmas Eve

Christmas cookies? Gingerbread men? Holiday cupcakes? Lola’s has special Christmas hours so you can pick up fresh-baked, all-scratch treats for your celebration.

On Friday, December 23rd, we’re open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, December 24th — Christmas Eve — we’re open from 9 a.m. (early!) to noon.

We’re not taking call-ahead orders, but we’ll have plenty of holiday goodies available for everyone who stops by.

After Christmas we’ll be closed for two weeks. We’ll see you again when we re-open on Monday, January 9th.

’Tis Our Season!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Lola’s.

December is when we savor the sweet traditions: Gingerbread, peppermint, sugar cookies. Walking into any bakery is a pleasure this month, but Lola’s is truly holiday central — we’re breaking out the cocoa, icing a horde of gingerbread men, and baking your favorite winter cupcakes.

Stop by and soak up the season; starting today we’re open until 6:30 p.m. from Monday through Saturday, working hard to fill holiday orders and fit into your shopping schedule.

While you’re here, pick up some copies of our special holiday menu: It includes everything we’ll offer during December — such as the long-awaited return of Chocolate Chestnut Cupcakes, smashingly pretty with their dusting of powdered sugar.

The season kicks off in earnest tomorrow, when Leesburg celebrates both First Friday and the lighting of its holiday tree and menorah. We’ll be open late: Click for details!
