Ombré (Color Gradient) Cake

‘Ombré’ means a series of colors that shade from light to dark. For this cake it refers to the gradated shades of buttercream icing, which combine to gorgeous effect. Though it’s shown in blue, we can do the cake in a gradient of any color. (Note: The inside of the cake is not colored — just the icing.)
